Cash Mobs SoBayLA-OC
Cash Mobs is the movement that targeted “to support local businesses while reclaiming the fun and spontaneity of flash mobs.”
National statistics, by the way, show that dollars spent in locally-owned businesses have three times the impact on your community as dollars spent at national chains. When shopping locally, buyers simultaneously create jobs, fund more city services through sales tax, invest in neighborhood improvement, and promote community development. This an opportunity for community residents and supporters to say “thank you” to locally-owned and locally-focused businesses. At the designated time, participants arrive at an announced located where the identity of the business is shared — and then move en masse to that location, where each spends an amount which varies by community (usually $20). After the buying ends, those who can travel to a nearby eatery for coffee or a meal, so that local restaurants are also supported. At the mob, there are three rules: Spend $20; Meet three people you didn’t know before; HAVE FUN!!!
