‘Simon Says Run,’ This Weekend

Registration is on for the 5K.

The Simon Says Run: A 5K for Kids’ Hearts, will be held Sunday, Oct. 27 at Victory Fields at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. The event benefits Simon’s Fund, an organization that prevents sudden cardiac arrest in students. A donation will also be made to the Colonial School District.

Simon Sudman would have been a third grader at Ridge Park Elementary this year. He died from sudden cardiac arrest eight years ago. Since his death, Simon's Fund has provided free heart screenings for students throughout the Philadelphia area, including Colonial School District.

At the screenings, several children were identified with potential life threatening heart conditions. They have screened over 6,000 students and helped over 50 people discover heart conditions. Simon's Fund was also behind the passage of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act.
