GA Sports: Lady LAX Clips Penn Charter in OT, 17-16

Rally from late three goal deficit.

Hollywood couldn't have scripted it any better.

With just 1:30 left in the game against league foe Penn Charter, the Germantown Academy girls lacrosse team (5-2, 2-0) found themselves down 15-12 at home on Tuesday.

But then a freshman-- of all players-- by the name of Allie Cannon stepped to the net and fired in a goal with 1:24 to play. 30 seconds later, she decided to do it again, recording her second score of the game to cut the lead to 15-14 with :54 to play.

And just when it looked like the goals would be in vain, veteran Caroline Haynie whipped one past Penn Charter keeper Allison Rogers to tie the game up and head to overtime.

The Lady Patriots' Kelli Stack would strike first in extra play, but a quick answer from Molly Pishini knotted the game at 16 and set the stage for double overtime.

Fittingly, it was Germantown Academy's star midfielder Brooke Kiley who would score there, netting her seventh goal of the game to take the lead for good with 2:26 remaining. The Lady Patriots regained possession on the next draw and ran clock to complete the 17-16 come from behind victory.

Kiley led Germantown Academy with her seven goals and two assists, while Stack would score two and assist on three others. Caroline Haney also had a solid day for the Lady Pats, scoring three and assisting two.
