GA Sports: Girls Lacrosse Falls to Peddie School, 13-12

Lady Patriots can't complete late comeback.

Sometimes they say that neither team really wins or loses, one just runs out of time.

That appeared to be the case for the Germantown Academy girls lacrosse team (4-2, 1-0) when they dropped a 13-12 game against The Peddie School at home on Thursday.

Down late, the Lady Patriots scored a goal with 26 seconds remaining to tie the game at 12. But just ten seconds later Peddie would score to go back up by one. Despite winning the ensuing draw and maintaining possession, Germantown Academy couldn't find the back of the net before time expired.

The defeat marked the second in as many days for the Lady Patriots, who may have had tired legs after traveling to Lawrenceville, N.J. the day before.

Midfield standout Brooke Kiley gave another solid performance, scoring five goals and adding an assist. Caroline Haynie was the only other multi-goal scorer for Germantown Academy, netting four while assisting on another.

Goalie Allie Carrigan made 16 saves on the day.

The team next takes to the field against St. Luke's in a 3:30 p.m. game on Monday.
