The Germantown Academy boys cross country team now has two victories in the early season, coming by a combined two points, after it downed Penn Charter 28-29 on Tuesday.
The team was led by Ben and Sam Ritz, who each finished with a time of 16:23 on the 5k course. The time smashed a week-old record of 17:31, set by teammate Max Huang-Hobbs in a 28-29 win over Plymouth-Whitemarsh. Huang-Hobbs improved on his own time, finishing fourth with a time of 16:39.
Penn Charter was led by B. Szuhaj's third-place time of 16:32, and rounded out its five finishers by placing fifth through eighth. However, GA would do just well enough to win, as Josh Herman and Joe DiBello finished 10th and 11th, respectively.
This weekend, the Patriots will head to the Briarwood Invitational at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
