Update: Colonial School District Meeting Cut Short

Shortly after honoring several students, the Colonial School Board ended its meeting Thursday by approving all of its agenda items in one fell swoop.

This, after hearing that one of the school district’s administrators had just died.

According to Colonial School District Community Relations Coordinator Dave Sherman, the school board learned during the Pledge of Allegiance on Thursday night’s meeting that a member of the “district’s administrative team” had died.

Sherman wouldn’t release the employee’s name, but said the person worked at the district’s office.

“I don’t have a directive from the family yet, so we’ll just stick to the statement,” Sherman said. “It’s just an unfortunate circumstance.”

Sherman said the school board approved all of the agenda items in one motion at the advice of the school district’s solicitor.

The school board’s next meeting will be Oct. 17.
