All Colonial School District schools will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22 due to the inclement weather, according to an email sent late this evening from school district spokesman David Sherman.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning that will be in effect through Wednesday at 6 a.m.; the storm has already brought several inches of snow and will bring single-digit wind chills.
In addition, the Montgomery County Commissioners extended the "Code Blue" weather declaration through Friday, Jan. 24. A Code Blue Cold Weather Declaration is made in Montgomery County when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter.
A Code Blue is called when the combination of air temperature and wind chill is anticipated to be 20 degrees or less.
