New President for Colonial School Board

The Colonial School Board selects its president and vice president.

The Colonial School Board, during its reorganization meeting on Tuesday, elected a new president.

Susan L. Moore was elected unanimously by the board to serve as its president.

Moore, who became the board’s first woman president, is in her 13th year on the board, having been elected to 4-year terms in 2003, 2007 and 2011. Moore also served as vice president for four years and is currently the chairwoman of the human resources committee and a member of the finance and audit committees.

Moore has a master’s degree in education from Temple University and has volunteered and served as vice president for the Plymouth Elementary School, Colonial Elementary School, Colonial Middle School and Plymouth Whitemarsh High School parent teacher organizations.

"I am pleased to continue working with a great group of individuals who all have the best interests of our students at heart,” Moore said.

Beth Suchsland, who was recently re-elected to serve her second 4-year term on the board, was unanimously voted to serve as its vice president. She is chairwoman of the community relations and student life committees and the district's advocacy committee. She is also a member of the human resources committee.

Suchsland has a bachelor’s degree in labor relations from Rutgers University and an MBA in human resources from Temple University. She has 13 years of experience working in various labor relations positions. Suchsland was on the board of the Plymouth Whitemarsh Aquatic Club and served as chair of the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club summer camp program.

Board member Alan Tabachnick did not to seek the presidency for a third consecutive year.
