Palmer filled the seat that was vacated after Julie Knudson's November resignation.

Heather Palmer officially took her seat on the Colonial School Board during the body’s Jan. 10 meeting after being selected from 12 applicants to fill Julie Knudson’s vacated seat.

“I am very excited to join the Colonial School Board for 2013,” Palmer said. "I look forward to contributing to the many initiatives the current Board has in place and bringing a fresh perspective as the board builds upon the continued success of the School District."

"The Board was impressed with the credentials of all 12 applicants," said President Alan Tabachnick. "We were unanimous in feeling that Heather's familiarity with the District, leadership responsibilities in a large corporation, and experience managing multi-million dollar budgets provide the right fit for us at a time when we are facing a difficult financial horizon. We are excited with the knowledge and experience that she can bring to the Board."

Palmer will be up for re-election this year.
