Ribbon Cut on Renovated Colonial Neighborhood Council Building

State Rep. Mike Gerber, D-Montgomery, attended the ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Colonial Neighborhood Council (CNC) facility in Conshohocken. Gerber secured a $20,000 grant to help fund repairs to the roof of the CNC's headquarters. The headquarters houses several charities, including a thrift shop, Meals on Wheels, emergency aid, referrals and counseling and a food cupboard.

“CNC does God's work in the community and I am fortunate to be in a position to help them further their mission with this grant," Gerber said.

Additionally, the Conshohocken-Plymouth-Whitemarsh Rotary Club provided financial and volunteer assistance to CNC to complete further repairs to the building.

“This ribbon cutting represents the completion of a six year project of the Rotary Club of Conshohocken-Plymouth-Whitemarsh to improve the Colonial Neighborhood Council building. The reward is the knowledge that the staff and volunteers now have a safe and secure facility from which they can spend all their efforts to help their neighbors”, said Don Heebner, President of both the CPW Rotary Club and the Colonial Neighborhood Council Board of Directors.

Many of the CNC's  staff and volunteers on hand were appreciative of the work done to help improve their facility.

“I am thrilled by the overwhelming support of our mission and on behalf of the Colonial Neighborhood Council staff and volunteers, I want to thank Representative Gerber, the Rotary Club, and others in the community for their assistance”, said CNC Executive Director Sandi Fryer.

"This was a true community effort, led by Don and the Rotary club to support a critical community asset." Gerber added, “Sandi, her staff and CNC volunteers have done a terrific job improving the quality of life for so many of our most vulnerable residents. I hope these capital improvements enable them to do what they do for many years to come."
