Manor Road Potentially Repaired by "Early Summer"

The Irene-damaged Whitemarsh Road repair project goes to bid this week.

Manor Road in Whitemarsh should be open for business by early summer, according to one township government official.

Township engineer Bruce Horrocks said that, barring weather or other restrictions, a Manor Road reconstruction project should be completed by “early summer.”

Part of the delay on construction, Horrocks said, has to do with the processes of publicly advertising the reconstruction project.

“The project will be advertised on the street by January 13, which could potentially allow for an award and qualified contract to be considered by late March,” he said. “After that, work would begin right away.”

Horrocks said that, while things are still pending, the township is eligible for funds from FEMA for the project.

“We are a rock solid qualifier,” he said.

Whitemarsh Chief of Police Mike Beaty has said that the Hagys Mill Road gate would remain open until Manor Road was repaired, meaning that residents along the Whitemarsh and Philadelphia boarder will have access to Hagys Mill Road at least until the summer, unless the position is reconsidered.
