Two Auto Shops Targeted for Burglary, Police Say

The incidents happened within days of each other, though it's not clear whether anything was taken.

Whitemarsh Police recently responded to two attempted burglary calls at two separate auto shops.

On Thursday, police said somebody removed two aluminum car wheels from a storage area in the basement of Classic Coachwork, in the 400 block of Bethlehem Pike.

According to police, two employees noticed that the two wheels were removed from the storage area and placed by the nearby creek. The door to the storage area had been broken open, police said, and several wheels had been recently cleaned and a car hood had been moved.

On Sunday, police responded to Greg's Automotive in the unit block of Germantown Pike at about 1:45 a.m.

According to police, someone had broken a window on the side of the business, broken a window on the front door of the business, and had cut the wires from the utility box and alarm box.

There was no sign of entry, but police said someone used a rotor to break the side window and a bearing to break the front door window;  both items were taken as evidence.

It's not clear whether anyone entered the building.
