Tractor-Trailer Crash Under Investigation

The crash with an overpass took 'at least three to four hours' to clean up.

Whitemarsh Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer disregarded height restriction signs when it crashed into a railroad overpass on Flourtown Road.

The incident happened Tuesday at about 8 p.m.; no one was injured.

A similar incident happened in Upper Dublin earlier this month. See that story here.

“The truck was driving down the road, disregarded signs and hit the bridge,” Whitemarsh Traffic Safety Police Officer Rick Stemple said. “Unfortunately, it does happen more than not, so we often work with the state to get new [height restriction] signs to place before the bridge. Thank God no one was injured.”

Stemple said that crash is still under investigation and would not say whether the driver would be cited.

At Whitemarsh Police Headquarters on Wednesday, two people said jokingly that it seems someone crashes into that overpass at least once a month.

There are several signs indicating height restrictions on the bridge and before the bridge
