Thieves Break into an Audi, Take Purse, Leave Blood, Police Say

Whitemarsh Police said someone broke into an Audi parked in the Spring Mill Train station on Saturday and stole a purse and several credit cards.

Prior to seeing the black 2011 Audi’s broken passenger-side rear window, police said two men, in their 30s, wearing sweatshirts, were seen pulling out of the SEPTA parking lot in a white crossover SUV at a high rate of speed shortly after 3 p.m. As the crossover exited onto Hector Street, it almost ran into the side of a police vehicle, police said. Police attempted to follow the vehicle, but it fled the scene.

The white crossover was seen about 15 minutes later … pulling out of Station Avenue onto eastbound Hector Street, police said.

Police then found that a car parked in the SEPTA lot — the black Audi — had its window broken; a small amount of blood was seen on the door where the window was smashed, and a pocketbook was removed. There was also a small pry mark located near the window.

Police were able to collect two DNA swabs of blood.

The owner of the vehicle, a 54-year-old Avondale resident, said she parked her vehicle in the lot at about 2:30 p.m.

According to police, someone used the victim’s American Express card to make two charges at a Walmart in Philadelphia at about 4 and 4:45 p.m. in the amounts of $443 and $200, respectively. Philadelphia Police were notified about the incident.
