Ridge Pike Gas Station Robbed at Knifepoint

Police looking for a suspect in the New Years Day robbery.

A gas station on Ridge Pike in Plymouth Township was robbed at knifepoint late Tuesday evening, Plymouth Police say.

Police responded to the American Gasoline Store, 1401 Ridge Pike, at about 8:54 p.m. after an employee reported the robbery. The man told police that a black male wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and black ski mask had entered the store and displayed a knife.

He told the cashier that it was "not a joke," and "don't push any buttons, I will kill you." The employee unlocked the register, and the robber walked behind the counter, taking about $300 from the drawer. The robber then fled on foot toward Fairfield Road.

Responding units, including a K-9 team, were unable to find the suspect in the area. Police reviewed surveillance footage, which showed the man enter the station's parking lot from the area of the Black Horse Tavern and commit the robbery as the employee described. The camera lost sight of the male while he was still in the parking lot of the station, a report said.

Police say they are still in the early stages of investigation.
