PSP Holiday Enforcement Lasts Through Monday

The State Police will be out in force over the holiday weekend; last year, the State Police issued 945 citations over the holiday weekend.

The Pennsylvania State Police Independence Day holiday enforcement period will run through Monday, July 7. 

During this time, additional efforts will be made to ensure motorist safety, which includes a sobriety checkpoint to be held within the Troop K coverage area.  

During the 2012 Independence Day Holiday weekend, troopers in Troop K investigated 94 crashes, which resulted in 25 injuries and one fatality.  Of those crashes, seven were alcohol related. 

Troopers in Troop K issued 945 citations, with 490 of that total being for speeding and 60 being for seatbelt or child safety seat violations. Twenty-three motorists were arrested for DUI.
