Pottstown Man Assaults Police Officers at Conference Center Ballroom, Police Say

Whitemarsh Police arrested a man on Friday night after they say he initiated a fight while intoxicated at a conference center.

Trevor Wayne Carlow, 34, of the 100 block of Stone Hill Drive, Pottstown, was arrested shortly before 10 p.m. after he allegedly started a fight at the ACE Conference Center Ballroom on Ridge Pike. According to police, Carlow charged several police officers following the fight; when police attempted to handcuff Carlow, he began flailing his arms with the cuff attached in an attempt to hit police. While on the ground, he began kicking his legs and struck an officer in her leg, police said; another officer suffered a bruised knee while wrestling with Carlow.

Carlow, who was unsteady on his feet, and smelled of alcohol, was then tazed and put in a police car, where he started yelling and attempted to use his weight to knock police over, police said.

Carlow suffered a laceration to his head and was transferred to Chestnut Hill Hospital for an evaluation.

He was charged with aggravated assault, a felony; terroristic threats; resisting arrest; and related charges. Carlow's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. in front of District Judge Christopher Cerski.

Carlow does not appear to have a criminal history.
