Plymouth Police Launches Facebook Page

The Facebook page, in addition to a new mobile app, will help the police department interact with the community.

The Plymouth Township Police Department found a new way to reach out to residents.

The Plymouth Township Police Department recently launched a Facebook page and a smartphone application. The department will use both to share information with residents, and, in turn, residents will have a new channel to provide tips comments and feedback.

The Facebook page works like a … Facebook page — you’re probably familiar with the format, and here’s the link. The smartphone application features 24 features, including: department contacts, feedback and tips forms and options to retrieve information from FEMA, the National Weather Service and the National Terror Advisory System. You can download the free app by searching for My Police Department or MyPD in the iPhone or Android marketplaces — it’s even free from advertisements.

The police department reminds Plymouth residents that the Facebook page and the app are not to be used in an emergency situation. In an emergency, hit up 9-1-1.
