Montco Sheriff’s Department Introduces New Deputies

One of the new hires is from Plymouth Meeting



The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department hired seven new sheriff’s office deputies; they were sworn in Thursday in a ceremony at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown.

They are:
 

  • John M. Prestia of Plymouth Meeting. Prestia has completed the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy certification and lethal weapons training. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown and received several academic scholarships and served as freshman class president in 2008.
  • Michael R. Bescript of Royersford. Bescript is a former Marine Corporal who has 25 years of law enforcement experience. He worked for the Pennsylvania State Police as a crime scene unit supervisor, a polygraph examiner and a criminal investigator.
  • Matthew P. Dean of Gilbertsville. Dean is a Bloomsburg University graduate who has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in criminal justice. Dean completed a summer internship last year with the Montgomery County Youth Center. Dean will attend Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy training later this month.
  • Timothy E. Kern of Hatboro. Kern graduated from the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy in July. Prior to accepting the position with the sheriff’s department, he was the transportation coordinator at Lakeside Alternative School in Fort Washington.
  • Anthony L. Krolikowski of Ambler. Krolikowski joined the department after completing Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy certification training. He is a Gwynedd-Mercy College graduate who has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He also spent an internship with the Pottstown Police Department.
  • Robert Maier of Collegeville. Maier recently completed certification training at the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy. He is a graduate of Perkiomen Valley High School and earned an A.A.S. degree in criminal justice from Montgomery County Community College. Maier is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Liberty University online.
  • James M. Surdykowski of Glenside. Surdykowski is a graduate of Albright College in Reading. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and also holds an A.A.S. degree in criminal justice from Montgomery County Community College. Surdykowski is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Second Degree, and will attend Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy Training in August.

“We are always on the lookout for talented and motivated individuals that have a strong desire to serve and meet the needs of our citizens,” Sheriff Eileen Whalon Behr said. “We are especially proud to have new employees from such diverse areas of the community.
