Man's Legs Severed by Train

A man was struck and badly injured by a SEPTA Regional Rail train Friday night in Plymouth Township.

According to media reports, the man, who has not been identified, had both of his legs severed in the accident.

The man was hit by a train on the Manayunk-Norristown line near Ross Road around 9:30 p.m., The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The man was taken to an area hospital and is listed in extremely critical condition, the Inquirer said.

Several trains on the line were cancelled Friday night following the incident. The accident is under investigation by both SEPTA and police.
