Lincoln Fire Company Holds Annual Xmas Tree Sale

Chief says company depends on yearly fundraiser.

Just in time for the first snow of the season, Conshohocken's Lincoln Fire Company has started its annual Christmas Tree sale. The company sells the trees-- this time around it's Douglas and Fraser firs-- every year, and fire chief Jay Davis says it's the most important fundraiser the company holds.

"It's our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we've been doing it for a long time," says Davis, pointing out a sale sign from the 1960s, when a tree cost five dollars. "It's a lot of time and effort from the volunteers, but we wouldn't make it through the year if we didn't do it."

All total, the company is scheduled to have about 900 trees delivered, and displays 150 at a time in a side lot of the station, located at 252 Roberts Avenue. The company is also selling a variety of holiday items, such as wreaths, tree stands, and candles.

Davis says the station's main hours are 5-9 p.m. on weeknights, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. While the company will sell the trees right up until Christmas, they usually sell out the week before, Davis said.
