Lansdale Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Whitemarsh

Whitemarsh Township Police arrested a Lansdale man on Jan. 7 after a traffic stop on Spring Mill Road when police allegedly found marijuana, paraphernalia, plastic baggies and a scale in the Nissan Maxima he was driving.

Sung Joo Lee, a 22-year-old from Line Street in Lansdale, was stopped at 37 Ridge Pike after his parked along a wooded area on Spring Mill Road near Black Walnut Road, accordig to police.

During the stop, Lee told him that his car was parked along the road because he had gone into the woods “to start a fire,” police said.

The reporting officer said that he detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and that Lee was lethargic and his eyes were red. The officer also noted that there were sandwich baggies throughout the vehicle.

After obtaining permission to search the vehicle, the officer located a backpack that contained a plastic container and a smaller glass jar full of marijuana, a smoking bowl and a digital scale, police said.

The officer also found a half of an orange pill, which Lee admitted was Adderall.  Lee also admitted to recently smoking marijuana, according to police.

After arresting Lee and before heading into the station, the officer reported that he checked the wooded area in which Lee said he had visited near Spring Mill and Black Walnut Road.

The officer said that found an area near the radio towers where people “hang out and drink,” which included empty beer cans and a few that had just been opened, according to the report.

Lee was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, and possession with intent to deliver, a felony, according to police.

Lee was unable to post bail, set at $25,000, and was sent to the Montgomery County Prison. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11 in front of District Judge Deborah A. Lukens, according to court records.
