Giant Attempted Fraudulent Purchase, Police Say

An unidentified man attempts to buy a $400 gift card and a pack of smokes at Giant, according to police.

Whitemarsh Police said a man attempted to make a large, fraudulent purchase at the Giant in the unit block of Ridge Pike late last month.

According to police, the man tried to buy a $400 gift card and a pack of Newports with a fraudulent Discover Credit Card. A clerk at the store said the number on the receipt was different from the number on the card itself, which raised a red flag.

When the clerk asked the man for identification, the man provided a counterfeit Pennsylvania Driver's License with the name Mohamed Demble. The name matched the name on the Discover Card, police said.
