Chemical Spill Reported at Plymouth Business

Officials are investigating a reported chemical spill at L&S Demolition and Recycling, located at 844 Brooke Road on Plymouth Township, ear the Ikea Shopping Center.

According to Montgomery County Communications Director Frank Custer, the county’s public safety department was investigating an “undetermined chemical spill.”

According to @MontcoAlerts on Twitter, a chemical spill inside the building caused the hazmat situation.

Custer said that area hospitals were alerted for possible respiratory symptoms in the area, though he said this was precautionary and he knew of no injuries.

L&S Demolition is a subsidary of A.J. Catagnus, Inc. Total Metal Recycling of Norristown, which also owns Rapid Recycling in Oaks.

"L&S Demo is a 1000 ton per day, Pennsylvania DEP inspected and approved C&D (Construction and Demolition) transfer station and recycling center," according to the website.

Plymouth Fire Co. trucks were on the scene, as well as the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety and Med Tex services.

Fire department members were seen moving in and out of the building.
