Montco DA Assists in Arrest for NJ Sexual Assault

A man was taken into custody in Montgomery County Friday for a September sexual assault case.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman was instrumental in helping solve a New Jersey sexual assault case from September. A man was arrested on Friday in conjunction with a sexual assault case which occurred last fall in Stone Harbor, N.J.

Charles Boone, 43, was arrested Sunday in Montgomery County, Pa., according to the Middle Township Gazette, Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor and Stone Harbor Police Chief Paul Reynolds told the press he faces charges of sexual assault and burglary.

The result was made possible with the cooperation and work of Ferman's office.

"A Montgomery county district attorneys office detective learned that the defendant was living in our county and was the subject of a fugitive warrant for sexual assault from New Jersey," said Ferman. "The detective arrested him on the fugitive warrant and he remains detained in our county prison pending an extradition hearing next week."

She said the Montgomery County authorities will remain on the case.

"The DA's office will handle the hearing and coordinate his return to New Jersey when appropriate," said Ferman.

The Press of Atlantic City said that the alleged incident occurred on Sept. 29 in Stone Harbor. Boone, police say, broke into a woman's residence and sexually assaulted her in her own bed.

The charge of "Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact" was the description NBC40 used on its website for Boone's alleged acts. The station said he is also facing "fugitive from justice" charges.

The Gazette noted that the arrest was the result of a combined effort.

"The Special Victims Unit of the prosecutor’s office and Stone Harbor Police launched an investigation, which they say led them to Boone," said the report.

Taylor and Reynolds commended the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for help in the investigation, according to The Press.

Boone is currently being held in Montgomery County Jail in Pennsylvania, charged as a fugitive pending extradition to New Jersey. His charges could net him up to ten years in prison.
