Area Officers Participate in Brad Fox ‘Stache Bash [UPDATED]

Participants will grow 'creative' mustaches over a 40-day period that will be judged at a Beef and Beer to benefit the Fox family on May 10.

Editor's Note: The venue of the May 10 Brad Fox 'Stache Bash has been changed from the Spring Mill Fire Co. to the Lu Lu Shriners Temple, located at 5140 Butler Pike.

You may find a high number of police officers and law enforcement officials in Montgomery County sporting “creative” mustaches over the month of April—and it’s for a good cause.

The Plymouth Township Police Association, in conjunction with the Whitemarsh Township and Conshohocken Borough Police Departments, are raising money for the Fox Family through the “Brad Fox ‘Stache Bash,” in which police officers and law enforcement officials throughout Montgomery County will grow out their most creative mustaches while raising money for the family of fallen Plymouth Township Police Officer Bradley Fox.

“In keeping with a sense of humor that Brad would surely appreciate, participating officers will channel their inner Tom Selleck and grow a mustache for 40 days,” according to creators.

The 40-day fund drive will begin on April 1 with a “Shave Off” at Lucky Dog Saloon, located at 417 Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where participating officers will have their last clean shave as they being the journey with “a spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood."

Earlier on April 1, representatives from Plymouth Township Police, including Sgt. John Jackson with his 33-year-old mustache, will be shaved by Shaving Grace Barbers in the studio with WMMR's Preston and Steve.

On May 10, the drive will conclude with a Beef and Beer event at the Spring Mill Fire Company Ballroom, located at 1210 E. Hector Street in Conshohocken, with live music by Sofa Kings.  Participating officers will then be judged and awarded prizes for their mustaches in several categories.

According to the Fox Stache Bash website, over 65 officers and court employees - from Horsham to Norristown and beyond - have already signed up, with more to come before April 1. There is a photo album tab on the site, which should get interesting as the mustaches grow.

Residents can donate to participants directly, to the general event with individual donations or sponsorships. Tickets to the May 10 event, at $25 per person, are available at the Plymouth, Whitemarsh and Conshohocken Police stations. All proceeds will benefit the Fox family.

Several local companies have already committed sponsorships and door prizes for the May 10 fundraiser, including Dr. Mash, Trident Advisors, Chemalloy, Oaks Center Ice, Philadelphia D&M, Murray Kia and Audi Conshohocken.
