Elvera B. Wischhusen, Former Volunteer for the Whitemarsh Township Welcome Wagon

Wischhusen, formerly of Lafayette Hill, was also a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill.

Elvera B. “Vera” (Staley) Wischhusen, of Fort Washington Estates, formerly of Lafayette Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 24. She was 90.

Wischhusen was a retired secretary, employed by Unisys and Cyanamid. 

She was a former volunteer for the Whitemarsh Township Welcome Wagon, and was a former Den Mother for the Cub and Boy Scouts. She also worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” and in an ammunition factory during World War II.

Wischhusen is survived by two daughters, Cate Anderson of Maple Glen and Jean Hayes of Mobile, Ala.; one son, Robert R. Wischhusen of Norristown; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Eileen Capello Harper, Dale Staley, Arna Pilon and Kenneth Staley.

Services will be held privately Friday at the Lownes Family Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
