E. Thomas Carr Jr., Veteran, Formerly of Lafayette Hill

E. Thomas Carr Jr., of West Chester, formerly of Lafayette Hill and Manayunk, died Friday, Jan. 17 at his home. He was 87.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Elwood and Regina Kelly Carr.

He was the widower of Terese (Rabbitt) Carr, who died in 2009.

He worked in his father's home painting business for many years prior to being drafted by the U.S. Army in 1944 at 18 years old; he ended up at the Battle of the Bulge as part of a replacement unit to replace heavy casualties taking place in Germany.

Later, he took a job with the Brunswick Co. in Philadelphia; he then started his own specialized bowling equipment repair business in 1964 and ran the business until 2007.

He is survived by one daughter, Terry Bonenberger of West Grove; one son, Thomas C. Carr of Wall, N.J.; one brother, Donald of Delaware; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Monday at the Lownes Funeral Home in Lafayette Hill; Interment was in Westminster Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd.
