Montgomery Bar Association honore Whitemarsh man for 50 years

Mark E. Weand Jr., of the Timoney Knox LLP law firm in Fort Washington, will be honored Nov. 1 as a 50-year-member of the Montgomery Bar Association.

The Bar Association will recognize Weand and others at its annual membership dinner at the Meadowlands Country Club in Blue Bell. In May, the Pennsylvania Bar Association honored Weand for his 50-year participation in that organization.

Weand of Whitemarsh Township, has been with Timoney Knox since 1965 and was a partner for 36 years. He focuses his practice on municipal and family law.

Weand is a former president of the Pennsylvania Borough Solicitors Association. In recognition of his public service as a municipal solicitor, the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs presented him with the Thomas F. Chrostwaite Award. He has been the solicitor for the Norristown Borough Zoning Hearing Board, planning commission and civil service commission, and also was assistant solicitor for Ambler Borough. Since 1970, he has been solicitor for the Telford Borough Council, civil service commission, planning commission, and the Telford Borough Sewer and Water Authority. As a municipal solicitor, he has participated in proceedings before the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board.

A graduate of Ursinus College, Weand holds LL.B and Juris Doctor degrees from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, and a Master of Comparative Law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, Texas. He also received a certificate of attainment from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Instituto de Derecho Comparado, Mexico, D.F., Mexico. After law school, he was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Robert W. Honeyman, Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
