For the second consecutive week, gas prises rose in the Bucks and Montgomery County areas, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
The average price of self-serve regular rose about 1.3 cents since last week, which is still 7.2 cents lower than last month but five cents higher than a year ago.
The price per gallon in Pennsylvania is also up – by about 2.3 cents – since last week. The national average price of a gallon of self-serve regular $3.300, while the average locally is $3.491.
However, despite the slight rise, AAA continues to predict that prices in 2013 will be, on average, lower than the 2012 average of $3.60. In the first 90 days of 2012, the report states, geopolitical tensions with Iran pressured the national price at the pump almost 65 cents higher. Without a similar market moving story now, it is likely that the year-over-year discount will widen in the coming months.
