Blackfish Planning a 'Titanic' Meal

The restaurant will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ship's final voyage with a 10-course meal.

April 15 will mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, which led to the drowning and death from hypothermia of 1,517 mostly lower class passengers. is commemorating the occasion with a meal.

On the third Sunday of April, Chef Chip Roman, owner of the popular Fayette Street restaurant, will prepare and serve a 10-course tasting menu inspired by the final meal served to those in first-class aboard the liner. 

“I’m fascinated by the history of the food we eat, and this meal is an exciting way to rediscover some of the most desired dishes that people sought out a century ago,” said Roman in a press release.

“I look forward to taking this ‘culinary voyage’ into the past with my guests.”

For $95 per person, plus tax and gratuity, guests will dine on Chef Roman’s modern interpretations of dishes he researched from the ship’s menu, served just hours before it sank into the Atlantic Ocean in the early morning hours of April 15, 1912.

The courses include Poached Loch Duart Salmon with beluga lentils, lemongrass mousseline and English cucumbers; Roast Squab with baby cress, carrots and pinot noir sauce; and Foie Gras Pate with celery salad and sour cherry.
