PSU Abington Ballplayer Earns Second Award

A Horsham resident and PSU Abington basketball playing is collecting hardware.

PSU Abington basketball player Mike Marvin earned his second sports accolade in as many weeks. After being named the North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference


The junior forward led Abington to a pair of conference wins behind averages of 22.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting nearly 59 percent from the field and nearly 79 percent from the free throw line. Marvin posted game highs of 26 points and 16 rebounds in an 80-73 win over Morrisville State Saturday and followed that up with 19 points, a game-best 13 boards and four assists in an 85-73 win over Cazenovia College Sunday.

The two double-doubles gave Marvin five straight such efforts and 10 on the season, while he went into the weekend ranked 11th nationally in that category. His NEAC-best averages of 23.2 points and 12.8 rebounds per contest also nationally rank 10th and seventh, respectively, as well.
