Conshy Police, School District, Businesses Team up for Turkey Drive

Annual effort brings turkeys to those in need.

When Thanksgiving finally arrives on Thursday, there will be over fifty area families celebrating with a nice cooked turkey on the table, which may not have been there without the good will of those in the community.

In the picture above, Conshohocken Police Officer Bill Walter is seen unloading a truck of turkeys and trimmings donated to the department during their annual turkey drive. The majority of the birds were donated by Place One Apartments, with the Boat House chipping in some as well. CPD then consults with the Colonial School District, which provides a list of families throughout the district who could use some help come turkey time.

"We've been doing this for quite a while, and we try to do what we can for as many families as possible," said CPD Chief Michael Orler. "We're given a list by the district, and we distribute or have the families pick them up at the station."

Orler says that while the majority of the turkeys go to families in Conshohocken, deliveries are also made into Plymouth and Whitemarsh townships.
