PW High School to Present ‘Guys and Dolls’ This Weekend [EDITED]

Performances will be held Thursday through Saturday.

  The Colonial Players at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School are putting the finishing touches on their production of “Guys and Dolls,” which they will perform this week. PWHS Math teacher Mickey Engel is directing the production, this romantic comedy includes vivid characters – missionary Sarah Brown, played by Sammy Schwartz, gambler Sky Masterson, played by Bryan Hoffman, who tries to win over Sarah’s heart in a bet, nightclub performer Adelaide, played by Kelly Letter, and her 14-year fiancé Nathan Detroit, played by Ross Weisman. Local Artist Performing Friday at Southern Cross Kitchen

Sarah Goldbloom will play at the new Conshohocken restaurant beginning at 8:30 p.m.

  Local singer/songwriter Sarah Goldbloom will perform at the Southern Cross Kitchen Friday night from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The regular performer at Stella Blu in West Conshohocken is making her way across the river for a special performance on the second floor of the new restaurant, located at 8 East First Avenue, with appearances by Eric Jaffe on ukulele, Mary Talerico on violin, Andy Speck on Djembe and Charis Joy playing between sets. William Jeanes Library Presents ‘Your Cheatin’ Art'

The event will feature guest speaker Steve Wills of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

  The Friends of William Jeanes Memorial Library is presenting “Your Cheatin’ Art” as part its annual meeting meeting on March 7, which will feature Steve Wills, coordinator of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Education Resource Center. The free event will take place in the Willaman Community Room, Lower Level, at 7 p.m. and will offer a glimpse at works from the fringe of the art world, “presented with a smile and a wink to the art elite,” according to the library. The Friends of the William Jeanes Library was established in 1950 and provides supplemental library funding and programming for the library. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Sportswriter Ray Didinger to Appear at Ambler Playhouse Sunday

Didinger will join the 'Assassin' Post Show on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Hall of Fame sportswriter Ray Didinger will join the post-show of Sunday's "Assasin" performance at the Act II Playhouse in Ambler. Didinger, of Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia, will discuss David Robinson's "Assasin," which is based on the true story of Jack Tatum and Darryl Singley. Tatum, a defensive back with the Oakland Raiders, left Stingley, a New England Patriot wide receiver, paralyzed after a devastating hit in 1978. The show gives a fictional account of the two players' lives 30 years later, in a tale of reconciliationa and redeption. Didinger will take the stage at 2 p.m., and some seats are still available. Conicelli ‘Family’ Member Competes on American Idol Tonight

Taylor Rand, daughter of Conicelli Nissan Parts Manager Craig, is 19.

  Taylor Rand, daughter of Conicelli Nissan Parts Manager Craig Rand, will compete against 163 other young women vying to advance in American Idol. According to an article in philly.com, Rand, who works at Chickie's and Pete's in South Philadelphia, has performed National Anthem at an Eagles Game and the Wing Bowl. At a New York Idol audition, Rand received four ‘yes’ votes from judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj, sending her to Hollywood. Lansdale Fun A Day Encourages Local Art and Artists [PHOTOS]

It was 'Art in Motion' when the second-annual Lansdale Fun A Day art show brought in hundreds of people to see the talents of local artists from across Montgomery County.

The Lansdale Fun A Day art show is not your typical black-tie art gallery affair. In fact, it’s held in the upstairs ballroom of a local pub. “It’s better than going to an art museum,” Matt Rosenfeld, a Blue Bell resident, said. “This is less formal, more relaxed, and a different crowd of people.” While this was Rosenfeld’s first visit to the art show, of the hundreds of visitors that attended this year, many have made it a point to return. “I think these shows are great, because you get a lot of different artists from different perspectives,” Mike Omensetter, of Hatfield, said. “It’s not your traditional, mainstream, mass-produced art. 'Somebody That I Used to Know' wins Record of the Year, 'Babel' wins Album of the Year and 'We Are Young' claims Song of the Year

The 2013 Grammys had many surprises this year, as well as memorable performances from musicians like Fun., Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons and Elton John. Gotye and Kimbra won the big prize — Record of the Year — for their collaboration "Somebody That I Used to Know." They beat out Fun., Kelly Clarkson, Frank Ocean, The Black Keys and Taylor Swift.
