Verizon Customers Without 911 Due to Outage
An outage at a Hatboro Verizon center has temporarily blocked subscribers from calling Montgomery County 911
According to a Pottstown Mercury Facebook post, Verizon Mobile customers are without access to Montgomery County 911.
The outage affects about seven municipalities, according to PhillyBurbs: Hatboro, Upper and Lower Moreland, Upper Dublin, Horsham, Abington and Cheltenham.
Due to an outage at a Verizon central office in Hatboro at around 8 a.m., customers will be temporarily unable to contact the 911 call center and are instead advised to contact their local police department for emergency assistance.
Over in Bucks County at around 8 a.m., the 911 system there was out of service due to maintenance.
Those needing emergency assistance were advised to call area police agencies.
The Bucks County 911 system, which was not associated with the Verizon issue, has been fixed.
Here are the non-emergency contact numbers for the municipalities facing outages. All emergency contacts for area police are 911:
Horsham Police: (215) 643-3600
Upper Dublin Police: (215) 646-2100
Lower Moreland Police: (215) 947-3131
Upper Moreland Police: (215) 657-4700
Cheltenham Police: (215) 885-1600
Hatboro Police: (215) 675-4400
Abington Police: (215) 884-2700

It's not just 911. We just got an email blast from Hatboro Horsham School District saying that the schools in the district were unreachable via phone due to the same outage.

There may be two separate incidents in progress. I live in the Horsham Towne development and have had intermittent internet and phone service all morning. Right now internet is working but the phones are still dead.

Horsham has been out since around 11 this morning. Does anyone know who we can contact about getting some credit for being unable to do business?

Thank goodness Verizon back up because the numbers you listed to contact the police were not working. I needed the police and called the same number you listed here for hatboro and it did not work.I tried to call borough hall but there phone was not working so i went to the borough website and found two numbers to call one of them was for the county. Thank you to the borough for being proactive and putting
this information on their website.

I know for a fact that all emergency centers including hospitals have back up generators. I find it appaling that the back up generator was not working during a power outage. That is a disgrace! Hopefully verizon will make sure that it is working in future!!
