Two Lafayette Hill Women Victims of Identity Theft
The following information was provided by the Whitemarsh Police Department.
The received two reports of identity theft on Feb. 3, according to documents the department provided Patch.
A 59-year-old woman from Pear Tree Lane in Lafayette Hill told police that she had five credit cards stolen from her on Feb. 3 at 12:15 p.m. The report didn’t note when or where the cards where reportedly lost, only that the woman said she received a phone call from Visa advising that they had seen suspicious activity on her account.
She told police her Visa, Merril Lynch Plus Visa, TJX Mastercard, Discover, and American Express Cards were stolen and had been used—with charges occurring at Walmart, Chick-fil-A, and a Sunray Pharmacy in Philadelphia. The woman reported she was charged $7,291.39 fraudulently.

Additionally, a 27-year-old woman from the 4000 block of South Warner Avenue in Lafayette Hill told police on Feb. 3 at 7:54 p.m. that someone had used her credit card number on her Wells Fargo Visa card to make purchases.
The woman had received a call from the Wells Fargo fraud dept. that afternoon tadvising her of an attempt to use the card at the Macys in the King of Prussia Mall. The person had attempted to make a $580 purchase. The fraud department also told her that someone had made a $36.67 purchase at the Rite Aid in Roxborough that afternoon.

The last time the woman had used her card was at the Fox and Hound on Feb. 1. An attempt by police to contact her waitress from that evening was unsuccessful.
