School District Reacts to Teacher Arrest

William Schellinger was suspended without pay on November 3.

The Colonial School District has posted the following announcement on its website in response to

As you may be aware, indecent assault charges were filed on Thursday morning against a Colonial Middle School teacher. The teacher was suspended on October 7 and no longer has contact with Colonial School District students. The district continues to work cooperatively with authorities and other agencies as investigations continue. We will also consult with our solicitor and take further action as appropriate.

Please be assured that our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our students. We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available to us through the District Attorney’s office.

According to the District’s communication office, the district hired Shellinger in August 2003.

He was suspended with pay on October 7 during the Plymouth Police Department’s initial investigation and was suspended without pay on November 3.

The communication’s office confirmed that the Colonial Board of School Directors voted to terminate Schellinger at a public meeting on November 17. That process is ongoing.
