The Plymouth Whitemarsh Indoor Guard opened the 2012 season with a bang on Feb. 18 with a first place showing in the Tournament Indoor Scholastic A Guard competition at Penncrest High School. The three-time defending champions score of 72.9 bested runners-up Hatboro-Horsham, Abington, and Radnor.
2012 promises to be another great season for the troupe. Acclaimed colorguard designers Joseph Heininger and Christopher Tascione return again this year to stage this production, while Danielle Dilks and PWHS alum Sarah Franzone serve as instructional staff, and Bobbey Biddle directs. The program is under the leadership of band director Tonia Kaufman and senior leaders Anthony Schultz and Clarissa Begnaud. Heininger designed the custom-made costumes for the “A Wish Come True.”
The PW Indoor Guard hopes to add to their collection of recent championship titles–including 2011 Cavalcade of Bands Best Guard, 2011 United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) Nationals Best Guard, 2011 Tournament Indoor Association Chapter 3, and All-Chapter Championship gold-medalists and the 2010 USSBA Nationals Best Colorguard.
This year’s production, The Final Departure, is set to the music of William Joseph’s “Leningrad” and tells the story of a war-torn nation sending its women away to safety while their men stay behind to fight in battle.
The team an upcoming competition at Hatboro-Horsham High School on March 17.
