Kids Eat Local: Zake’s Cafe

Know what to expect when you go out to eat with the kids.

Getting time to eat out is hard enough and sometimes bringing the kids is just part of the plan. So before you go, be sure to know if Zake’s Cafe is the right pick for you and the kids.

Restaurant: Zake’s Cafe

Is there a kids’ menu? Though there isn’t a specific section of the Lunch & Dinner menus that indicate a kid’s menu, the waitstaff assured me that the kitchen can prepare child-friendly entrées.

Are there healthy options? Yes. In addition to the healthy offerings from Zake’s regular menus, your child can choose from options such as a Grilled Cheese, Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich, or Grilled Chicken Quesadilla (don’t expect greasy food like Chicken Fingers & Fries).

How does the restaurant deal with food allergies? Let your server now about any food allergies, so that they may guide you in your choices for your child.

Is the restaurant so quiet that any childish outburst will draw attention or is there enough noise that a small cry is likely to go unnoticed? Zake’s Café offers intimate dining, and while the dining rooms are divided by walls, an upset child could be an issue.

Is there enough room for a stroller? Not really; though there are separate dining rooms, it can get a bit tight when trying to pass someone.

Is there a baby changing station in the restroom? No.
