It's Time to Buy the Tree!

The holidays are here and that means it's time for the traditional tree hunt. Where are you buying yours?

December 25th is fast approaching and for many of us, that means a mad dash to find the perfect tree. Area residents searching for that tree have several long-standing local tree sales to choose from.

Harmonville Fire Company at 904 Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting is holding their annual tree sale with over 500 trees in stock starting at around $35. They also have wreaths, tree stands and other supplies and will cut and drill your tree to your specifications.

Harmonville is a nonprofit volunteer fire company and proceeds from the sale go to support the company.

Another annual spot for holiday greenery is Mr. C's Trees at DeKalb Pike and Hancock Avenue in East Norriton. Mr. C's has trees, wreaths, ornaments, lawn decorations and memorial items. Stop by and check out their selection.

Just around the corner, Plymouth Produce in the Studio Centre shopping center on West Johnson Highway has also brought out their holiday selection with trees, wreaths and other holiday goodies. They're open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Next weekend on Saturday, Dec. 8, Boy Scout Troop 369 is holding their annual tree sale at the Visitation BVM School parking lot at 190 North Trooper Road in Eagleville. The scouts will be selling 7 to 7-and-a-half foot Fraser Firs starting at 8 a.m. and until the last tree is gone. Scouts will be on hand to help shoppers pick out their trees and tie them to the car. Proceeds from the sale help fund their troop.

If you're looking for more of a family fun day experience, take a short trip to Varner Farms at 746 South Trappe Road in Collegeville.

Varner's has hundreds of trees to select from and even tractor-drawn wagon rides to their cut-it-down-yourself tree fields. They also have wreaths, holly, mistletoe, foxglove, ornaments, stockings, holiday decorations and even free hot chocolate and hot cider. The kids can even visit the horses, goats, donkeys, chickens and turkeys while they're there.

Do you know if a great tree sale that we missed? Tell us about it in the comments and we'll add it to our list!

Thanks, Shawn! If you go post it in our calendar (http://norristown.patch.com/events/new), I'll make sure it goes out in the morning newsletter and gets featured on the homepage.
