Montgomery County Patch staff will be updating this map throughout the day on Monday to reflect the developing impacts of Sandy―which was still a hurricane late Sunday night―as it approaches the area. According to some estimates, more than 10 million people could lose power in the Northeast as the storm progresses.

Most Montgomery County public school districts had announced by Sunday evening that they would be closed on Monday. A number had already announced that they would also be closed on Tuesday.

All Montgomery County courts and government offices are closed Monday.

All SEPTA service was suspended as of 12:30 a.m. Monday, and all flight operations at Philadelphia International Airport have also been suspended for today.

If your business was going to take you to Delaware today, reconsider your plans: that state's roads were closed to all but essential and emergency personnel at 5:00 a.m. today, according to ABC Philadelphia.

The King of Prussia and Montgomery Malls also both announced that they would be closed Monday.

The Red Cross has opened emergency shelters at Pottstown High School, Norristown High School, and Cheltenham High School. All three shelters are pet friendly, while the Pottstown and Cheltenham locations also have a veterinarian on duty.

People need to remember to not have their garbage cans out, there will be no pickup today or tomorrow, and they will blow all over the place.
