Armed Men Steal Groceries, Assault Blue Bell Giant Store Manager, Police Say
Father-Son Duo of Plymouth Meeting Allegedly Stole from Giant, Assault Manager
Jared Anthony Jackson Sr., 47, and Jared Anthony Jackson Jr., 22, both of the unit block of Valley Road in Plymouth Meeting, were taken into custody on Feb. 7, according to police reports.
The incident took place at 1760 DeKalb Pike, at the Giant grocery store, on Feb. 7 at 4:52 p.m., said the report. An employee reported to police that the Jacksons left the store with a cart full of merchandise, not in bags, said the report.
“The store manager saw the male, along with a black male in his 20s, loading the merchandise into a van,” said the Whitpain Police report.
When the manager confronted the men, asking for a receipt, the older Jackson began to “fight” him.
“The manager began to walk the older suspect to the store, but the actor pulled out a knife and, threatened the manager and fled the scene,” said the report.
The manager had to be treated, according to police, for a minor laceration by the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad.
The younger Jackson was also allegedly involved in harming Giant’s employees.
“The younger male [then] backed up the van and struck both men,” said the report.
The two Jacksons fled the scene, but employees were able to obtain the license plate number, which police reportedly used to track the Jacksons to their home.
Arraigned by District Justice Robert Sobeck on Feb. 7, the bail was set at $5,000 cash for each actor. Both were taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility and their hearings are scheduled for Feb 15at 10:30 a.m., according to police.
