A family with strong Conshohocken roots is hoping to raise funds for their father David Currier, who was injured earlier this month in a motorcycle accident.

Currier spent over 20 years in Conshohocken before moving to Norristown, raising daughters Sue and Kim Currier near North Lane and 9th Avenue. Currier's accident required him to be airlifted by helicopter, and Sue has created a website to help pay his mounting medical bills, as his insurance limits have already been reached.

The website documents Currier's treatment and recovery, stating that his injuries include a traumatic head injury, which required the removal of part of his skull to relieve pressure; a broken thumb, back fracture, and several facial fractures. He also required a tracheotomy to help with breathing.

According to one post, Currier awoke for the first time three days ago.

"Today's update: Dad is awake!" the post read. "[A family member] and I walked into his room and he was sitting up in bed with his eyes closed… he said, 'I'm ok.' We cried and cheered."

According to the page, the family has so far raised $450 to its goal of $5,000.
