Drunken Man Crashed in Whitemarsh Lawn, Police Say

A Philadelphia man allegedly struck a tree on a Thornhill Drive lawn.

 

A Philadelphia man has been charged with DUI after allegedly striking a tree on the lawn of a home on Thornill Drive in Whitemarsh, according to police.

A Whitemarsh Township Police Officer reported that Alfornica George, 46, of Philadelphia, was found standing next to a disabled vehicle on a lawn on the 600 block of Thornhill Drive just after 1:30 a.m. on April 6.

According to police, George initially said that he was side-swiped by another vehicle, which forced him onto the lawn, but he allegedly changed his story several times before admitting he was trying to turn around and “somehow ended up on the lawn.”

Police said that George exhibited signs of intoxication and was allegedly unable to make it past the letter “E” while reciting the alphabet during a field sobriety test.

George was arrested and taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for a blood draw. He allegedly had a blood-alcohol level of .16 or higher, according to charges filed on April 24.
