Dead Pet Causes Domestic Dispute, Police Say

A Conshohockn husband-and-wife duo will be charged with simple assault after an argument over purchasing a coffin for a dead pet became violent.

According to a report from the , officers were dispatched to a Hallowell Street home around 1 a.m. on September 27 after a 52-year-old Conshohocken man came to the station report an instance of domestic violence purported by his wife.

The man claimed that a dispute with his intoxicated wife over the purchasing of a coffin for their dead dog resulted in her choking him and striking his face with her fist.

Police found the wife, a 38-year-old Conshohocken woman, who claimed that her husband, after becoming agitated by the discussion, punched her and prevented her from leaving her house. According to reports, officers on the scene could smell alcohol on her person.

The pair will be charged with simple assault, as they both had physical injuries.
