Conshy's First Baptist Church Holds First Service in New Home

A 2005 fire destroyed the old church.

Conshohocken's First Baptist Church held its first service in a new home on Christmas, seven years after the old structure burned to the ground.

FOX 29 was there to cover the service, which will be the only one held until the church officially opens its doors sometime around Easter.

"It's a joy to be together tonight... the Lord even gave us a White Christmas," FOX quoted Pastor Bradley Lacey as saying.

First Baptist's previous home, located on 4th Avenue near Harry Street, burned down in May 2005. According to ABC, the main sanctuary had been in existence since 1903, while other sections dated as far back as the 1870's.

The church's congregation has been meeting at Conshohocken's Fellowship House during reconstruction.
