Conshohocken VFW Board Votes to Go Smoke Free

Beginning May 1, smoking will not be allowed in the facility.

 

The Conshohocken Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1074, located at 300 E. Fifth Ave in Conshohocken, will be a non-smoking facility beginning May 1, according to the organization.

A Facebook post stated that roughly 11 members voted at the boards last meeting on Saturday to disallow smoking at the facility, which includes a bar.

Most Facebook comments were positive towards the change. One reader remarked that this VFW becoming smoke-free was the first he had seen.

“This is an awesome step forward,” said one reader. “And if we are the first that's fine - Sometimes we have to set an example for others to follow.

Pennsylvania's 1988 Clean Indoor Air Act allowed smoking to continue in private clubs when public events weren't being held, among other exemptions.
