The annual tradition of crowing Miss PW will take place on Thursday, January 10, in the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Several of the school’s dynamic and talented young women representing all grades will compete in four phases of competition with one student as the victor by the end of the night.
The phases of competition include personal expression wear, on-stage interview, talent and evening wear. One of the most exciting phases, talent, will showcase a myriad of presentations which include singing, dancing, piano, speech and colorguard routines.
Pageant organizer Bobbey Biddle anticipates another great event this year.
“The last couple years have been exciting and I continue to be impressed with the talent and intelligence that these young ladies possess,” Biddle said. “The new Miss PW will certainly be a wonderful representative.”
Biddle will also serve as the evening’s master of ceremonies. Joining him will be former Miss Delaware USA and pageant choreographer Vincenza Carrieri-Russo. Selecting Miss PW 2013 will be left in the hands of a judging panel that includes Miss Pennsylvania runner-up, Ryann Richardson; professional event photographer, Paul Pruitt; former Miss Philadelphia and lawyer, Mary Kaye Anthony; local opera singer and pageant coach, Kevin Schlear; Colonial Elementary faculty member and dance teacher, Gail Bingham; and PWHS alumna and pageant competitor, Julia Pauline.
Last year’s representative, Olivia Flocco, will entertain the audience with her beautiful vocals as she passes the title onto her successor. Flocco is a senior at PWHS and looks forward to graduating in June and performing summer music gigs with her band Strange Heat.
“Winning Miss PW 2012 was absolutely amazing,” Flocco recalls from last year. “I didn't expect it at all. It was an experience I'll never forget.”
Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door.
